I’m not a Rush Limbaugh fan–I don’t listen to any kind of talk radio, much preferring NPR, the BBC, and WFMT–but whether one is a fan or not, hatchet jobs on Limbaugh ought to be called out as such:

Colin Powell: Republican

I realize that the debate over Colin Powell’s party status doesn’t need any more participants, but I am going to throw in my two cents and say that if Powell wants to continue to identify as a Republican, not only should he be allowed to, but his decision should be welcomed.

So Much For Dissent Being The Highest Form Of Patriotism

If George W. Bush laughed at stuff like this being said about his political opponents . . . well . . . you know the rest:

I presume that it is safe to say that those who thought this kind of joke was funny or redeeming in any way, are simply cruel enough to wish death on their political opponents.

Which means, of course, that they should not be allowed anywhere near the levers of power. I don’t listen to Rush Limbaugh at all, but I would think that making jokes about his health and mortality ought to have been considered out of bounds. I guess, though, that some people just don’t possess regular, human sensibilities. They also don’t possess class.

Wanting Obama to Succeed and to Fail

I want Barack Obama to succeed. And I want him to fail. That’s the truth – and I don’t see any conflict in it.
