Why Does Nancy Pelosi Have a Problem With Patriotic Music?

After we were startled by the hold music when we called a House office recently, sources on Capitol Hill informed us this week that the Democratic House leadership has made a sweeping decision that congressional offices now have the options of “smooth jazz” elevator music or no music at all.

Questions For Nancy Pelosi

“Most Ethical Congress In History”?

Why is Charlie Rangel allowed to keep his chairmanship of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee–which, in the event you didn’t know it, plays a decisive role in crafting health care legislation–when his continued presence on the committee makes a mockery of Nancy Pelosi’s claim to keep things on the up and up in Congress?

Dead Public Option Sketch

There has been a lot of back-and-forth on the issue of the public option, with most of the back-and-forth coming from the White House. Someone in the Administration–lately, both Secretary Sebelius and the President himself–goes out and basically states that the public option is not that important, and then the White House walks back the cat when liberals raise their voices in fury, and tell us that the public option is most certainly on the table, that no one should think otherwise, and that all talk to the contrary is just media generated hype.

Obama’s JFK Mistake: All Glamour, No Game

When it comes to domestic policy, thus far there is no presidency that Barack Obama’s resembles more than John F. Kennedy’s. This is not a positive statement: Kennedy, equipped with a similarly strong majority on Capitol Hill, was nonetheless a legislatively frustrated president. By mismanaging his health care insurance reform, Obama now risks the same thing.

“A Fan Of Disruptors”

There was a time when Nancy Pelosi was in favor of “un-American” activities:

Criticizing Democratic Health Care Reform Plans = “Un-American”

So claim Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer; never mind that the duo didn’t complain about “un-American” tactics when George W. Bush was being hung in effigy.

Nancy Pelosi: Diplomat

Or, you know, not:

Villainous Money Welcomed

You know, if I didn’t like or approve of a particular entity or industry, I would go out of my way to ensure that I had as few dealings with that entity or industry as possible. Ideally–assuming that I said something along the lines of how the entity or industry was made up of “villains”–the number of dealings we would have with one another would be zero.

Summarizing Joe Biden

There is good news for the Vice President:

Speaking Of Unpopular Politicians: Meet Nancy Pelosi

This is an ugly state of affairs:

Health Care Reform: Calling The House Democratic Leadership’s Bluff

Because Blue Dog Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce Committee have joined up with Republicans in order to object to the House’s version of health care reform, committee Chairman Henry Waxman is now threatening to bypass his own committee, and bring a bill directly to the floor of the House for a vote. Otherwise, Waxman warns, Republicans on the committee may be “empower[ed].”
