Bush Asks, ‘Miss Me Yet?’

A new billboard in Minnesota is causing quite a ruckus. It seems the ghost of presidents past may be sending a little hello to Obama from Bush the Younger.

Who Saw THIS Coming?

Apparently, Andrew Sullivan had to be told to ease up on the Bush-is-a-crazy warmonger meme by . . . Mother Jones.

And none for Jay Bybee, either.

A State of the Union in Contradiction

A President calling for bipartisanship and an end to the permanent campaign gave a speech that was–in tone and in substance–a campaign speech. A President calling for unity gave a speech that practically cried out “all the bad stuff that happened was George W. Bush’s fault!”. A President calling for a renewal of national purpose spent large amounts of time playing class warfare games, and seeking to turn Americans against Wall Street. That latter activity is an easy one to engage in. But just because something is easy, does not make it right.

After all, one of the great philanthropists of literature once famously opined that Christmas is the perfect time to decrease the extra humans competing for scarce resources.

Making Mischief (Presidential Legacy Edition)

My colleague, Dan McLaughlin, suggests via e-mail that perhaps it is now time to repeal the 22nd Amendment. It may make the Presidential race in 2012 interesting:

Obama’s Foreign Policy: Shakedown 1979

The evidence suggests that Obama foreign policy is like Obama campaign promises: destined to be realized in some shadowy future likely – but not certain – to come, yet already awarded rich accolades merely for promise. It appears to be premised on the idea that the Carter Administration was not inherently wrong on anything – just well ahead of its time.
