Charlie Crist, live from the land of “I still don’t get it,” reiterated his support for last year’s Obama stimulus package saying that taking the stimulus money was the “responsible, right thing to do.” He added, “I don’t apologize for it at all. It was the right thing to do. We needed the money.”
Crist’s support for the hugely unpopular stimulus plan has been one of the chief reasons that his conservative challenger, Marco Rubio, has been able to overtake Crist in the race for US Senate. Starting with as much as a 30-point lead in early polling, Crist is now falling behind Rubio among Republicans in the Sunshine State. Crist’s statement today is surely music to the ears of the Rubio campaign who will rightly point out that Crist continues to be out of touch with the Floridians he’s seeking to represent.
Crist, of course, remains steadfast and stubborn saying that “Rubio’s criticism is irrelevant.”
“It doesn’t matter. Not one iota,” Crist said. “He’s wrong, and I’m right.”
This is why a whopping 86-pecent of Americans believe the government is broken. When their elected officials repeatedly refuse to listen to them, what else can they think?
