Dan Twining rips the Administration both for its Asia policy, and for misrepresenting the Asia policy of the Bush Administration. The Obama Administration’s Potemkin pretensions to concern and interest in Asia policy ought to be exposed by more pundits and observers. Here’s hoping that Twining started a trend.
I am not a neoconservative myself, but that doesn’t stop me from being displeased over the way in which neoconservatives have been attacked and parodied for purely political purposes. It is one thing to take on the neoconservatives and their vision of the world in a straightforward and honest manner, and to use criticism to sharpen neoconservative thinking so as to ensure the most vibrant, and intellectually stimulating foreign policy discussions possible. It’s quite another to simply make the movement into one giant piñata for the purpose of thrashing it, thereby gaining partisan advantage.

Anytime Dick Cheney speaks out against the Obama Administration, invariably, someone comes along to tut-tut, and to contrast the former Vice President’s outspoken behavior unfavorably with the silence maintained by George W. Bush. Just as invariably, we are told that the former President’s silence must mean that he disapproves of the comments made by the former Vice President.

But now, many of the Senators–and former Senators–featured in this video, think that “majoritarian absolute power” would be nothing short of wonderful:
You just have to love Joe Biden’s quote: “I pray God when the Democrats take back control we don’t make the kind of naked power grab you are doing.” Enjoy the irony.

I promise to be delighted whenever senior members of the Taliban and/or al Qaeda are captured or killed, and not to make the kind of derisive jokes about how “we always seem to be catching or killing the number 2 guy” that were made back when the Bush Administration captured or killed senior members of the Taliban and/or al Qaeda.

I have written in the past about Flynt and Hillary Mann Leverett, the husband and wife team that passes itself off as being your go-to source concerning all things relating to Iranian politics, and Iran’s place in the world.

Commenting on this post, Professor Orin Kerr is kind enough to inform me that the position taken by the Obama Administration on the issue of warrantless tracking of cell phones is consistent with the position held by the Department of Justice going back to the Clinton Administration, which means that indeed, the Justice Department under the Bush Administration took the same position that is being taken now under President Obama.

“Now, the Obama-Biden pair that opposed the Iraq war and its tactics and predicted their failure is prepared to accept credit for its success.”

The Obama Administration believes that you have no reasonable expectation of privacy when it comes to the whereabouts of your cell phones.

Apparently, Andrew Sullivan had to be told to ease up on the Bush-is-a-crazy warmonger meme by . . . Mother Jones.
