Jon Henke Is A Friend

He is also a very smart guy, who has written very important material on how Republicans can get their groove back after two straight election losses. The Next Right, which Jon maintains, along with Soren Dayton and Patrick Ruffini, is must-reading all the time. I have lots of respect for him.

So, I hope that he won’t take it the wrong way when I tell him that he is completely wrong when it comes to American policy concerning the protests in Iran.

As I expected, Ali Khamene’i, the so-called Supreme Leader of Iran, has taken a ruthlessly hard line against the demonstrations in Iran. As far as he is concerned, everything went great, there were no problems, there was no fraud, and we all should be happy.

Iran today still is what is was before the election: a very large, resource-rich nation, with ambitions of regional hegemony backed by nuclear weapons, a commitment to end the existence of Israel, and a demonstrated willingness to sponsor armed troublemakers in Iraq and Palestine. At the very least, our challenge is to moderate Iran’s behavior.
