“The leader, his staff and scorekeepers have had discussions over recent weeks to ensure those proposals fit the parameters President Obama laid out in his call for legislation that comes in with a price tag no higher than $900 billion that is fully paid for.” Yes, paid for with fictional Medicare efficiency money.

Cormac McCarthy, author of “The Road”, “All the Pretty Horses”, and “No Country for Old Men” sits down for a rare interview in San Antonio’s historic Menger Hotel, just across the street from the Alamo and the West that inhabits much of McCarthy’s work.
The mainstream media has never like Sarah Palin, but Newsweek’s treatment of her in their latest issue is noting less than a sexist assault. A former Governor and Vice Presidential candidate deserves more respect. Was it necessary to show the “Sarah Palin-as-a-slutty-schoolgirl doll”? Absolutely not.
“It’s another record-high for the U.S. National Debt which today topped the $12-trillion mark. Divided evenly among the U.S. population, it amounts to $38,974.34 for every man, woman and child.” Much of this is thanks to out of control government spending. Thanks Barry.
Senators Ben Nelson, Mary L. Landrieu, and Blanche Lincoln are proving to be “tough sells” in the Democrats battle to garner enough votes to consider Obamacare. The Three Amigos “could scuttle the bill before the fight… even begins on the Senate floor.”
Harry Reid has pushed back Senate consideration of Cap-and-Trade legislation until next spring. That marks two of Obama’s top priorities getting punted. Support for climate change legislation has been wavering as fears that it will harm the economy grow.
Everyone is awesome except for us: “If there was any significant change during this trip, in fact, it was in the United States’ newly conciliatory and sometimes laudatory tone… The day before, speaking to students in Shanghai, he described China’s rising prosperity as ‘an accomplishment unparalleled in human history.’”
For years the American Cancer Society and insurance companies have suggested that women in their 40’s get frequent mammograms to help combat breast cancer by catching it early. Now, a government panel has said that practice should not start until women reach 50, as it’s too expensive and leads to “unneeded biopsies”.
“Russia has banned sales of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, the hottest-selling video game of all time, because it contains a scene in which civilians are massacred at a Russian airport.” Seriously people? It’s a video game. Get over it.
“If Mr. Obama hoped that his week-long four-country visit to Asia, his first as president, would yield concrete accomplishments that might silence critics skeptical that he deserves that prize, he might be disappointed.” Hu Jintao shows the upper hand in every area, even Iran policy, and POTUS bows to his wishes.
