The Blogosphere’s own Ahab takes to task bloggers who “diss” and “excoriate” Sullivan’s posts on the issue of Trig Palin’s matrilineal line, while failing to note that contra Sarah Palin’s claims, the Palins have never released a birth certificate confirming that Trig is Palin’s son. Quoth Sullivan:
Why will they not do so with Palin? What are they afraid of? How long do we have to put up with a press corps unable to do its basic job?
To which the reply might be: “Why should any of us give a hoot about the issue in the first place?”
Perhaps Andrew Sullivan genuinely regrets having latched on to the issue of Trig Palin’s matrilineal line, but feels he is in too deep and has to continue to commit to the story in order to save face. Of course, this is a generous interpretation of Sullivan’s motivations. There are other interpretations out there that involve men in white coats.
Why does the Atlantic continue to allow Sullivan to embarrass it with his presence at the magazine?
