The author has penetrated into an ugly truth of the Obama Administration: it is all about Obama and his presumptive greatness.

Obama is very uncomfortable with the idea of American accomplishment let alone greatness.

Europeans in general have gone all gooey over Obama as sharing their general outlook. What they do not realize is that if the going gets rough that Obama will not stand with Europe. He will drop the European allies like a hot potato.

No doubt most Europeans consider George W. Bush to be an uncouth cowboy who did not rise to their level of civilization. Maybe they are right. But who could doubt that George W. Bush would run from a fight.

Living in Europe where no one is willing to spend enough to provide a minimum defense with problematic neighbors like Russia and looming threats from the Middle East who would you rather have watching your back ? The urbane sophisticate who may cut and run or the uncouth cowboy who is willing to spend blood and treasure to back an ally.

Take your pick, Europe.

The author has penetrated one of the ugly truths about the Obama Administration: everything is about Obama and his presumptive greatness. Moreover Obama is very uncomforatble with the notion of American accomplishment let alone greatness.

While Europeans may get all gooey about Obama being like them they ought to remember that if the going gets rough Obama will drop them in a New York heartbeat. George W. Bush may have been an uncouth cowboy but George W. Bush could always be counted on to watch your back.

Hopefully it will not take a tragedy of Biblical proportions for this insight to sink into the less than agile European brain.

"...it [Obama's failure to attent the celebration] helps highlight some key aspects of Barack Obama’s personality and governing style."

Your restraint here is excessive. The man hates the West in general and America in particular. If he identifies with anything other than himself, it is with the third world. His improbable rise to power is almost otherworldly, and we should be asking ourselves why he has been sent to us.

Why do liberals rarely champion people who seek liberty and self government? What ever happened to liberty and justice for all?
