Who actually thought that Cash For Clunkers was a smart proposal? How could anyone think that destroying perfectly functional automobiles constituted a smart economic policy? Why did anyone believe that spending money now, only to undermine future spending in the automobile sector was a clever plan?

And finally, shouldn’t we be worried that the very same people who designed Cash For Clunkers are now thinking up other economic policies to try to implement?
