Why, the Imperial Presidency, of course!

I am pretty sure that Jean Edward Smith would not have written this column if George W. Bush or John McCain were President. Quite the contrary; she would have accused Bush and/or McCain of acting like “kings” if they sought to imitate Franklin Roosevelt. “Bush the Divider” was the epithet of choice–or at least one of them–during the previous Administration, but now that a Democrat is in office, division is a good thing?

It’s amazing how many pundits court intellectual whiplash over this issue. And it’s amazing that they think they can get away with it.
