actually, I want a choice other than private insurance. its a for-profit industry. and the only way to make profits go up is to let sick people die. thats just a fact. I want some competition to keep them honest. Clearly, left on their own for decades, private insurers have no interest in regulation. what are you afraid of? that the gov't can do it better and cheaper than the private market? nobody that I know of has said anything about a govt takeover of health care. those are just scare tactics used by people who stand to lose if they're forced to compete. those are just facts.

As a lover of history, some of the current goings on in Washington remind me of Stalin, Lenin, Marx, Hitler. I specifically remember reading a comment by Corrie ten Boom when during WW2, people were forbiddin to sing the Dutch National Anthem. Children in school were subjected to speeches by “forward thinking politicos” reminding them of their civic duties and responsibilities. Hitler stated elderly persons (and mentally handicap) should not be given health care because they were not productive citizens. Hmmmm…sounds familiar

most conservative voters are completely ignorant about health care reform issues. all they know is what they are told by the likes of Fox and Rush Limbaugh. The sad fact of the matter is that universal health care would make all of the middle and low-income republicans' (I'm talking to you Southeastern United States) lives much, much better. but, when you listen to Hannity, you're not getting the truth.

I think this might be one of those situations where the question can be legitimately asked:

When stories about nothing — as this one — grow legs and somehow become linked with substantive (or what should be substantive) policy debates about healthcare or energy, it really makes you wonder whatever happened to the idea of logical, reasoned discourse. Brad Jackson — are you really suggesting to us that (a) a push for healthcare reform in this country and (b) the mysterious switchover of Congressional hold music are two salient indicators of a socialist takeover of America? Or are you just trying to make your political foes look bad by taking cheap shots that appeal to those without an attention span?

Yes, we need health care reforms (tort, cost-control, insurance regulation) we DO NOT need government-run healthcare or government-run anything else. The term itself is an oxymoron, much like your liberal religion.
