The Bolivarians Stumble Anew

by Pejman Yousefzadeh

Thus far, the regime of Hugo Chavez has brought nothing but poverty, shortages, corruption, autocracy, dictatorship, and deprivation to the people it claims to serve, thanks to the combination of short-sightedness, zealotry, and self-dealing inherent in the regime’s policies.

The regime has now decided to top itself–for the moment–by nationalizing the third-largest bank in Venezuela. Because socialism and excessive state control have obviously done wonders for Venezuela’s fortunes thus far.

If it emerges that Hugo Chavez is a foreign agent for an outside country or entity that absolutely hates Venezuela, and wants to see the country razed by utterly destructive policies, I won’t be in the least bit surprised.
