Let the mayhem begin!
The Senate’s confirmation hearings for Sonia Sotomayor to be the next justice on the U.S. Supreme Court begin this morning. Look for the Democrats to emphasize “her story” and look for Republicans to point out her controversial statements on the influence of race and “experience” on judicial rulings, as well as her assertion that the courts are where policies are made.
It’ll be fun to watch, but will no doubt end in her confirmation, no matter what ruckus Republicans may raise. Also, keep an eye out on the Senate’s newest member, and most unqualified Senator on the Judiciary Committee, Al Franken. Lord only knows what kind of questions the clown may ask.
