Ugh. It seems that Florida Governor Charlie Crist, one of only a few Republican Governors who supported Obama’s bailout plan, thinks he needs to take that sense to Washington. No, seriously. According to Senator Mel Martinez, Crist is likely to announce his run for Mel’s open Senate seat. Some speculate it will happen upon conclusion of his state’s legislative session in May.
Retiring Sen. Mel Martinez (R) said this week that there’s a strong likelihood Gov. Charlie Crist (R) will run for his open Senate seat in 2010 and added that if that does happen, he is not interested in trading jobs with Crist.

Mel Martinez, who once ran the RNC (into the ground) may be followed by Charlie Crist, a Republican governor who has bucked the trend of his fellow GOP state executives in the South by mismanaging his state and supporting a bailout plan packed with pork? As Senator Cornyn said earlier this week, primaries are a good thing. Enter former Florida Speaker Marco Rubio.
