Welcome to the United States of Obama where those who disagree with the administration’s radically left agenda may be watched by Homeland Security. No, I’m not kidding.
DHS has warned law enforcement officials about increased “rightwing extremist activity”, as a result of Obama’s election, the downturn in the economy and returning military veterans. They don’t just classify white-supremist groups as “rightwing extremists”, nope, they also include anyone who supports states rights or oppose liberal policies on immigration and abortion. Translation: Anyone who disagrees with the liberal agenda is now a threat to our country, including everyone at today’s TEA Parties.
A footnote attached to the report by the Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis defines “rightwing extremism in the United States” as including not just racist or hate groups, but also groups that reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority.
“It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single-issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration,” the warning says.
By this definition, everyone who is a member of Right to Life, the NRA, the Club for Growth, and any other conservative organization is now a “rightwing extremist”. Even those folks who attend Tea Parties tomorrow or Governor’s who speak up for state’s rights by rejecting strings attached federal “stimulus” money are now “rightwing extremists”.
Obama’s campaign promise to be “post-partisan” has quickly evaporated, but the White House quickly distanced itself from the report and warning, claiming Obama is just focused on protecting us.
White House spokesman Nick Shapiro said, “The President is focused not on politics but rather taking the steps necessary to protect all Americans from the threat of violence and terrorism regardless of its origins.”
So, I’m confused. Do we live in the United States of America with freedom of speech or are we in Venezuela where a dictatorial regime can silence those who disagree with them using threats and surveillance? It doesn’t seem as easy to tell these days.
