Christie Has a Double Digit Lead Over Corzine in NJ

by Brad Jackson

A new poll shows Republican Chris Christie leading incumbent Democrat Jon Corzine in the 2009 New Jersey race for Governor. Corzine, the former US Senator, has a job approval rating of a mere 36%.

A new Strategic Vision poll in New Jersey… shows Chris Christie (R) leading Gov. Jon Corzine, 47% to 36%.

Quinnipiac will also be releasing a poll on the New Jersey Governor’s race this week.

Christie, who served as the U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey for six years until the end of 2008, is the second GOP Governor candidate who is leading in a traditionally Democrat state. Last week a poll in Virginia show Republican Bob McDonnell leading three Democrats by considerable margins. The GOP could use a serious boost in the wake of the devastating 2008 elections, and turning two blue states red in this November might be just the kick start needed to get Republicans back on track ahead of mid-term elections in 2010.
